Students at XJA have been learning an exciting new skill — cup stacking! During class students were introduced to the basics of cup stacking and quickly discovered that it’s more than just stacking cups. It’s a fun activity that builds hand eye coordination, focus, speed, and teamwork.
After learning the technique, students now have time in class to practice and improve their skills. They enjoy challenging themselves to stack faster and work together with classmates. Cup stacking also encourages persistence and problem-solving as students learn that practice leads to progress.
Most importantly, cup stacking also supports overall physical fitness by keeping kids moving,
strengthening fine motor control, and encouraging goal-setting and perseverance. It also
includes coordination, balance, and brain-body connection.
Have your student demonstrate their cup stacking skills for you at home and then give it a try. Paper or plastic party cups will work. Practicing together supports physical fitness and
reinforces the skills learned in class.
