Morning Meeting is always a delight, a chance for our students to meet with who they could become. Last Thursday, our friend Harry Santen brought two of his friends: Dwight Parry, Principal Oboe of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and Titus Underwood, Principal Oboe from Nashville Symphony.
They performed an improvisational number for us, demonstrating the power of musical collaboration. When asked to share one word, Dwight said "Heart," and Titus shared "Consistency" and "Focus."
"If you focus for like 10 years of your life—I know that seems like a long time—or five years on something that you really love, something that you really love, you can change your life forever," Titus told our students.
The visit reminded our young men that dedication to something meaningful can transform their futures.
