Xavier Jesuit Academy Celebrates Blessing of Flagpole and Pollinator Garden

On September 18, 2025, the Xavier Jesuit Academy community gathered to bless a newly installed flagpole and pollinator garden, a generous gift from the Zimmerman and Russert families. The ceremony, led by Fr. Nathan Wendt, S.J., XJA's Founding President, marked another milestone in creating an environment that nurtures learning and spiritual growth.

Fr. Wendt reflected on the meaning of the flags. "These flags remind us of who we are and who we're called to be," he said. "The American flag calls us to gratitude for the freedom that we share and the courage in the ongoing work of justice." The XJA flag below "proclaims our mission to form young men for others, leaders grounded in faith, scholarship, leadership and service."

A commemorative plaque bears an inscription "in gratitude and commitment to men for others," serving as a reminder that the school's mission is "rooted in service and gratitude values that we must live every day."

The pollinator garden, installed by Wimberg Landscaping, features native plants chosen to support local pollinators, reflecting XJA's commitment to environmental stewardship and care for creation.

Fr. Wendt concluded by quoting scripture from Galatians about unity in Christ Jesus and the prophet Micah's call "to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God."

The ceremony exemplifies how Xavier Jesuit Academy thrives through generous support from families who embrace the school's mission. As XJA continues to expand, Naming Rights Opportunities are available for families interested in dedicating spaces in their honor.
