Endowed Scholarships
An endowed scholarship provides permanent, lasting support for students by creating a fund that is invested and maintained in perpetuity. Each year, a portion of the investment earnings is awarded as tuition assistance, allowing generations of students to benefit from a donor's generosity while preserving the principal of the gift.
Named Endowed Scholarships
Donors who establish a named endowed scholarship create a lasting legacy at the school. Scholarships may be named in honor or memory of an individual, family, organization, or class year. The scholarship name is permanently associated with the fund and may include donor-defined preferences that align with the school's mission and applicable policies.
Unnamed Endowed Scholarships
Donors may also choose to contribute to an endowed scholarship fund without public recognition. These gifts provide the same lasting impact and perpetual support for students while allowing the donor to remain anonymous or simply direct funds toward the school's general endowed scholarship program.
Minimum Funding Levels
While a fully funded endowed scholarship is $350,000, a new endowed scholarship may be established with a minimum commitment of $50,000. Donors may fund the endowment through a one-time gift or a multi-year pledge. Gifts below the minimum level may be directed to the school's general endowed scholarship fund or combined with future contributions to reach the endowment threshold.
Xavier Jesuit Academy and donors may change an endowed scholarship pledge at any time.
Impact
Endowed scholarships help ensure that deserving students have access to an exceptional education regardless of financial circumstances. Through an endowed scholarship, donors create a permanent source of support that advances the school's mission and transforms lives for generations to come.
Xavier Jesuit Academy Foundation
Endowed funds are held by the Xavier Jesuit Academy Foundation and are commingled for the purposes of investment. Funds are disbursed at the discretion of the foundation board at a rate of 4% per year, though the school may not require a disbursement every year. In years where a disbursement is not required, all funds will be reinvested.

The Myron M. Kilgore, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund honors a pioneering educator (1936-2019) who broke barriers and embodied Jesuit values throughout his life. As the first African American football player to graduate from Xavier University (1958) and later the first African American faculty member at St. Xavier High School, Myron dedicated his career to education and justice.
During his 10 years at St. X High School, he served as an English teacher, guidance counselor, and coach while helping develop the SEP (Summer Enrichment Program), which became today's Companion Scholars Program. True to his middle name "Memory" and Cicero's wisdom that "Memory is the guardian of all things," Myron continued serving St. Xavier High School on the Board of Trustees and celebrated four grandsons who graduated from there.
This memorial fund ensures Myron's legacy of faith, intellectual competence, commitment to justice, and openness to growth continues opening doors for future generations of young men.

The Jane C. Schaefer Memorial Scholarship Fund for Xavier Jesuit Academy honors a woman whose life embodied the transformative power of education. From teaching multiple grades at John S. Connor School to co-directing Religious Education programs and founding the Parents Aid to Learning Program, Jane (1949-2025) dedicated herself to nurturing young minds with compassion and purpose. This fund continues her legacy of service and her belief that quality education can change lives—a mission perfectly aligned with XJA's commitment to developing "Men for Others" through faith-based, academically rigorous education.
