Over three days in May, Xavier Jesuit Academy welcomed a team of medical students from the University of Kentucky right to our campus for an on-site physical clinic. From May 19 to 21, the UK team completed school physicals for 21 XJA students, giving families a convenient way to take care of a required health milestone without an extra trip across town.
The clinic was a natural partnership: XJA students got the care they needed, and the UK medical students gained hands-on clinical experience under physician supervision. That's cura personalis working in both directions.
But what made the week memorable went beyond the paperwork. During breaks between appointments, the UK team stepped out of the clinic and onto the field, joining students for a pick-up game of baseball. It was a small moment, but one that captured something central to how XJA approaches community: relationships come first, and every visitor who walks through our doors becomes part of the XJA family, at least for a little while.
The UK team left impressed with the turnout and the spirit of the school, and they've already expressed interest in returning this August to offer physicals again as families prepare for the new school year. We're looking forward to welcoming them back.
