Xavier Jesuit Academy is delighted to welcome Mr. David L. Fowler, Sr. as our Music Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Fowler brings three decades of music education experience and deep roots in the Cincinnati community to our young men.
A native Cincinnatian and Walnut Hills High School graduate, Mr. Fowler earned his Bachelor's degree in music from Ohio University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Wright State University. He taught instrumental and vocal music in Cincinnati Public Schools and served as Band and Choir Director at Dunbar High School in Dayton for a combined 33 years.
Mr. Fowler's distinguished career extends beyond the classroom. He is an alumnus of the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra, performed as Drum Major for Ohio University's Marching 110, and portrayed Judas in the Chicago Rock Opera Company's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He currently serves as Music Leader for Classical Roots Choir, which performs annually with the Cincinnati Symphony Pops Orchestra. In 2025, he and his son received the prestigious MLK Keep the Dream Alive Award.
Most recently, Mr. Fowler served for seven years as Minister of Music at Church of the Resurrection, making him no stranger to the Bond Hill community. His passion for faith-filled music education aligns perfectly with XJA's mission to form young men as leaders and Men for Others.
Mr. Fowler will teach music classes on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the school year. His wife, Cassandra, also performs with Classical Roots Choir, and together they share a love for the Lord and service to their community.
We are deeply grateful to the Louise Dieterle Nippert Musical Arts Fund for making this partnership possible and look forward to the joy and creativity Mr. Fowler will bring to our students.
Welcome to the Xavier Jesuit Academy family, Mr. Fowler!
