On Wednesday morning, Xavier Jesuit Academy welcomed delegates from the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference (NJSLC) to the Bond Hill campus for the "Takes Action" service program.
Visiting students began their morning with a short presentation from Founding President Fr. Nathan Wendt, S.J., who shared the story of XJA's mission to prepare young men for lives of leadership and service. XJA students then led their peers on a tour of the school, offering a firsthand look at daily life on campus.
The morning continued with hands-on service in the Bond Hill Learning Garden and the Bond Hill Community Garden, where NJSLC delegates joined XJA in caring for the shared green space. The service project was led by Assistant Principal Michael Gong, alongside volunteer Laurie Roche and community liaison Margoux Roberts.
This year's NJSLC is hosted by Xavier University, marking only the second time the university has served as host since the conference began in 1997 at Regis University. The conference theme draws on Cincinnati's beloved nickname, the "Queen City," first given to the city in the early 19th century in recognition of its prosperity and its position between east and west. Today, the name endures as a source of local pride, reflecting Cincinnati's culture, its neighborly spirit, and the amenities of a thriving city.
